Designing and Communicating with Baby Boomers

Gail Zahtz Voices From the Industry at NKBA Kitchen and Bath Industry Show

With 10,000 Baby Boomers turning 65 daily, 40 million Americans considering themselves disabled, three in ten living with a caregiver, and another 30% becoming disabled before turning 65, the greatest market opportunity for kitchen and bath designers and manufacturers is to delight people with great design that works for everyone regardless of age, ability or lifestyle. The market has not been demanding design that has “adaptations,” because the industry has failed to present homes that make their lives easier without sacrificing great design. Social media and new technologies have become one of the easiest and most significant ways to set yourself apart in both presentation and communications with clients and grow your market.
